TASTING NOTES
This vibrant, rosado wine is made in a Spanish style to honor our heritage. This blend is stylistically driven by tempranillo, adding luscious fruit and intense aromas, and is complemented by Malbec to exhibit structure and layered hints of stone fruit. This wine is fermented until completely dry with extremely little residual sugar. It displays aromas and flavors of strawberry and hibiscus tea with bright, well balanced acidity.

WINEMAKING NOTES
Technical Data: ALC. 14.0% by vol.; TA: 6.6g/L; pH: 3.28; RS: 0.1 g/L
Fermentation Vessel: 100% Fermented and Aged in Stainless Steel Tanks for 6 Months

After hand-harvesting the grapes at night (to preserve freshness and fruit integrity), the fruit was delivered to the winery where it was destemmed but not crushed. Winemaker Ana Diogo-Draper cold soaked the berries in stainless steel tanks for only 1 hour - the goal was to obtain a minimum amount of skin contact time, in order to produce a Rose wine with delicate fruit flavors and aromas, while ensuring a delicate blush. This Rosé is made in the saignée (pronounced 'sonyay') method which involves the bleeding off, of a small percentage of the juice (anywhere from 5% - 20%), after limited contact with the skins, prior to fermentation. The fruit for this wine comes from lots intended for our Limited Release wines. Producing Rosé by this technique has the added benefit of creating a more concentrated wine for our red wines.
VINEYARD NOTES
Artesa sources grapes from diverse vineyards across Napa and Sonoma counties , with very distinctive terroirs, intended for production of our Limited Release lots, which can only be found directly at the winery. A number of those lots receive a "saignée" (bleeding juice off the tank) right after they have been crushed into their tanks. That juice is fermented and aged separately, originating Rose wines with very unique fruit and acid. That diversity makes for an unique Rose wine, which at Artesa we call "Rosado".
